The town itself is less a holiday destination than a transport and farming centre serving the surrounding areas. Most guests using this route are connecting between the two airports: landing at Bodrum and flying out of Dalaman, or the reverse. That need usually arises for those splitting a holiday between two regions or on a blue cruise itinerary, boarding at one harbour and disembarking at the other. Dalaman is also the closest airport to Göcek, Sarıgerme and Dalyan.
