Although Datça appears to lie directly opposite Bodrum, it is far away by road. What is a short distance as the crow flies requires a long detour by land because the Gulf of Gökova lies between them. For that reason ferries run between Bodrum and Datça in summer; many of our guests take the ferry one way and the road the other.

Almond and olive trees stretch the length of the peninsula, and the Datça almond is the area's best-known product. The settlement has two centres: modern Datça on the shore and the village of Old Datça with its preserved stone houses. At the tip of the peninsula, ancient Knidos is a port city founded where the two seas meet. The coves on the southern shore — Palamutbükü, Ovabükü and Hayıtbükü — are known for their clear water.

The road journey from Milas-Bodrum Airport to Datça is among the longest in the region: the route runs through Milas and Muğla down to Marmaris, then enters the peninsula. That final stretch is single-lane and winding with sea on both sides. The total time is long and map estimates rarely reflect reality; our Mercedes fleet makes a clear difference over this distance and we stop for a break.

Accommodation in Datça is split between the centre, Old Datça and the southern coves, with distances of up to twenty kilometres between them. Vehicle access to the stone streets of Old Datça is limited, and guesthouses in the coves are reached along narrow field tracks. Our drivers know these distinctions; writing the property name in your booking is enough.

If you plan to travel by ferry we can drop you at Bodrum harbour instead, planning the pickup around both your flight and the ferry time.
