Going from Bodrum to Fethiye means crossing from the Aegean into the Mediterranean; the vegetation, coastline and climate of the two regions differ noticeably. After the low scrub of Bodrum, pine forests and steep slopes begin around Fethiye. Built around a sheltered bay, Fethiye is both a city that works all year and a holiday destination.

Guests making this crossing are usually on a blue cruise itinerary: because boat tours run between Fethiye and Bodrum, boarding at one harbour and disembarking at the other is common. Fethiye's surroundings are rich too — the Ölüdeniz lagoon, the abandoned stone houses of Kayaköy and the Twelve Islands boat tour are the area's main excursions. Lycian rock tombs on the slopes above the town are visible from everywhere.

The journey from Milas-Bodrum Airport to Fethiye is long and runs inland: the road passes through Milas and Muğla before descending to the bay. It is markedly longer than the approach from the Dalaman side, with greater changes in altitude. Vehicle comfort is felt directly over this distance — our Mercedes fleet keeps the drive from tiring you, and we stop for a break if needed.

Fethiye spreads over a wide area: the centre, the marina district, Çalış beach and the Karagözler slopes are far apart. Boutique hotels on the Karagözler side sit on steep, narrow streets.
