Almost every guest travelling from Bodrum to Göcek does so for the same reason: changing boats. This route between Turkey's two great yachting centres is in constant use because blue cruise itineraries begin at one harbour and end at the other. The gap between them is a day's sail by sea but a long drive by road.

What distinguishes Göcek is its scale: the town is small while the marinas around it are larger than the town itself. There are no tall buildings and the bazaar is within walking distance. The town has no beach of its own either — you reach the water by boat, out to coves such as Bedri Rahmi Bay, Tersane Island and the Yassıca Islands. That pattern makes Göcek a base for sea excursions rather than a beach holiday.

Belek is reached from the airport along the D400 highway; the road is straight and comfortable, with no hidden difficulty on this route. The point that really needs attention is luggage: golf bags are longer and heavier than standard suitcases, and a Vito cannot always take two golf sets plus the luggage of four passengers. Tell us at booking that you are carrying golf equipment and we will size the vehicle accordingly.

Hotels in Belek sit at the end of long private roads off the main highway and their entrances look alike; at some properties the golf-course gate is separate from the reception gate.
