Travelling from Bodrum to Marmaris means moving between two different holiday worlds. After the bare, windswept geography of the Bodrum peninsula, Marmaris greets you with a landscape covered in pine forest that stays green even in winter. The city sits at the head of a deep bay ringed by mountains, and that sheltered setting has made it one of the Mediterranean's largest yacht harbours.

Most guests making this crossing are either splitting their holiday between the two regions or finishing a boat tour in one harbour and flying from the other. Marmaris marina is a main departure point for the blue cruise, and coming from Bodrum to board here is a common plan. The castle and old bazaar form the historic core enclosed within the modern seafront.

The route from Milas-Bodrum Airport to Marmaris differs from the approach on the Dalaman side: the road first turns inland towards Milas and Muğla, then finishes on the mountain road descending to Marmaris. Marmaris spreads over a wide area — the town centre, the marina, the Siteler district and Uzunyalı beach are far apart and their addresses resemble one another.
