İçmeler lies about eight kilometres west of Marmaris in a separate bay where the mountains drop straight to the sea. The coastal road between İçmeler and Marmaris runs along the water, with regular minibuses and sea taxis operating between the two, so going into Marmaris for dinner and back is easy. Boats leaving the bay run day trips towards Turunç, Kumlubük and the ancient city of Amos. The ferry to Rhodes departs from Marmaris harbour.

The airport journey to İçmeler continues on from the Marmaris route and is among the longest transfers in the region.
