Selimiye is an old fishing village on the northern shore of the Bozburun Peninsula, set in a calm bay ringed by mountains. Although it has become known in recent years for boutique hotels and good restaurants, it keeps its village fabric: a single road runs along the shore with olive groves and pine forest rising behind. Because the bay is shallow and sheltered, the sea is almost always flat.

What defines Selimiye's character is seafaring. The bay is a regular stop for blue cruise boats, and traditional wooden boat building continues on the peninsula. The fish restaurants built out on jetties along the shore are the village's best-known feature. Boat trips run from here to the coves of Bozburun, Söğüt and Orhaniye and out into Hisarönü Bay.

The journey from the airport is long and comes in two stages. First the Sakar Pass is crossed towards Marmaris, then the road enters the Bozburun Peninsula, where it narrows, begins to wind and descends from the mountainside to the bay. This final stretch is single-lane and unlit at night. Our Mercedes fleet and a team that knows the route make this distance comfortable.

Accommodation in Selimiye consists of boutique hotels and guesthouses along the shore road. As the road is narrow it may not be possible to stop directly in front of some properties; our drivers know the nearest suitable point and spare you walking with luggage. The neighbouring coves of Bozburun and Söğüt are a short distance away.
