Turunç sits south of Marmaris in a sheltered bay enclosed by mountains on three sides. The bay is narrow and deep; the settlement runs as a thin strip along the shore with steep slopes rising behind. That geography naturally protects the town from crowds — unlike the bustle of Marmaris, Turunç is a quiet, small-scale resort. Its beach is pebble and the sea clear, deepening quickly from the shore.

Boats leaving the bay run day trips to Kumlubük, the ancient city of Amos and the coves towards Bozburun. In summer a water taxi operates between Marmaris and Turunç; the sea route is both shorter and more scenic than the road. Walking paths on the slopes climb to points overlooking the whole bay.

The journey from the airport is one of the most demanding in the region. First the Sakar Pass must be crossed to reach Marmaris, then a second mountain road begins, descending from Marmaris to Turunç with a succession of tight hairpin bends. On this final stretch, which can be uncomfortable with an inexperienced driver, our team's knowledge of the route translates directly into comfort.

As Turunç is small, most hotels are on the seafront or the slope immediately behind it. The roads climbing to the hillside properties are narrow and steep, and for some boutique hotels the last part is on foot.
